Transitioning your mentorship to a life long relationship

This session covers the pre-work for the mentoring series. As a mentoring pair, the goal of this session is to agree on the objectives and timing of this mentorship, agree on your first meeting time/place, and to complete your mentoring preparation exercise. This is the initial set up of the mentorship. It is your responsibility to do the preparation work before the first time you meet.

Tasks:

  1. Contact your mentor to discuss the objectives and timing of this mentorship.
  2. Initiate scheduling the time and place of your first meeting.
  3. Complete the Mentee Preparation Exercise.

Tips:

  1. When reaching out to your contact, ask what form of communication they prefer (text, email, call).
  2. You are the only person who can check off tasks.
  3. It may be helpful to take notes during your sessions, so bring a notebook and something to write with.
