After watching the lesson video, spend time on LinkedIn and become familiar with the research capabilities we spell out below. LinkedIn is a valuable tool in your job search to help you be knowledgeable and informed as you go into informational interviews and ask for introductions.

Value of LinkedIn for Research and Networking:
With LinkedIn, you can research more about the company, their job openings, and especially use LinkedIn to make connections with individuals who work for the companies you are interested in joining.

Things to remember:

  • Over 70% of all jobs are filled because of an introduction or referral.  RELATIONSHIPS MATTER!
  • If you are looking for a job or looking to build a quality network to aid in building a successful career,  you should have a LinkedIn profile and spend time on LinkedIn.
  • In your job search remember if you can find an employee you have a connection to and you get your resume to the hiring manager, you are almost 6 times as likely to get the job. Another 20% of jobs are filled from a non-employee referral. Referrals are critical!
  • Your LinkedIn Profile is an important component, so important that we have an entire lesson Building A Winning LinkedIn Profile, which guides you through making it the best it can be.
