This series was designed for individuals of all ages involved in a career transition.  If you are a college student you are at the beginning of a transition to a career. It is critical that you have a clear picture on the importance relationships play through out your career, and that you adopt solid relationship building discipline as early in your career as possible

Use the Connection Identifier worksheet located in the “Materials” tab above. Make a list of companies and positions you would like to work at. Now make a list of people who work at the companies you have identified and start to build or strengthen your relationship with them. If you find no relationship at a company you have identified, see who in your network may have a connection. LinkedIn becomes a valuable tool for this. See if you can ask for an introduction to someone in the company. Think of this as a treasure hunt where you have to search to find the gold…and the gold is in the relationships and connections you have with others.
