To take action will require setting networking goals, being an initiator, and managing and tracking your relationships.
  • List realistic goals you can reach out to and initiate contact with others. We suggest a personal form of contact, such as face to face, FaceTime, or a call, rather than texting or an emailing.
  • Everyone feels good about people remembering them and reaching out…especially when there are no strings and it is just to say hello and catch up. This shows you care and are interested. Think about when was the last time someone just reached out to say “Hi” that you were upset? Go ahead, you will not only make their day but yours too!
Example:

Person                                                 Type of Activity                                    Week of

Debbie Ham                                         Phone Conversation                                   10/4/2020

Sam Taylor                                           Meeting in person                                      10/4/2020

(coffee, lunch, dinner or drinks, date)

Joey Sutton                                      Social outing invitation                                 10/11/2020

*Make it a practice to come away from each interaction discovering something new about them and make sure to enter it into your notes in their contact information.

REMEMBER the importance is to set-up a new follow-up after every engagement or interaction. Following up shows you:
  • Are interested.
  • Are organized.
  • Do what you say you will do.
