Assignment 3: Practice & Get Feedback Copy

Practice & Get Feedback

Time Investment: 1 hour

Give yourself a day and then come back to the personal branding statement you created. Do you still like it? Any tweaks you need to make? Try it out on your accountability partner, mentor, or a few friends and get their reaction. Listen to their responses and see if you agree and revise if needed.

One last thing to think about is how you will continue to establish and grow your brand. Growing your personal brand is an investment and you must take action! Your brand and branding statement will change over time as you change and gain experience. To help you do this,  you should create a plan/list of ways you can continue to grow your brand. Mentors can be helpful with this.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Continued reading and learning is important in your areas of expertise or desired expertise.
  • Belong to organizations or associations within your industry.
  • Be up to speed on current topics in your industry or region. Being well informed makes it easier for you to join into conversations or share new information with others.
  • Attend company or industry events or workshops.
  • If you do volunteer work, promote these organizations as this is part of your brand.
  • Consider writing an article for a school publication, trade magazine, online publication, or a blog.
  • Build your online presence via LinkedIn and other social media platforms. LinkedIn is a great canvas to paint a deep story of who you are.
  • Informational Interviews are another way in which you build your brand.
