Purpose-Audience

The purpose of this series is to provide career development resources to  Phi Kappa Psi Brothers.  It is important to understand the significance relationships and networking will have on your life and career.  As a Phi Kappa Psi member you have  an elite network. Tou are also part of the network of your specific college or university.  As you progress through your career and life you will become a member of many other networks such as, within the companies and industries where you work, clubs, religious organizations, neighborhoods etc. 

Phi Kappa Psi and PRISM networking are providing this platform to help you develop your relationship building skills and provide a contact management platform for you to use while in school and through out your career .

 

The Expected Investment:

This series consists of 5 lessons that include exercises and “assignments” to help you  gain the skills and confidence you will need to succeed  in your careers.    Each lesson includes a video which range from 7:00-11:00 minutes, in total about 40 minutes of video.  WE advise you to watch the video and engage with the relevant assignments and activities as they fit into your personal and career development. 

We suggest completing all of the recommended exercises to get the most out of this PRISM course. The activities range from building your own Linked In profile and network, and most importantly, conducting informational interviews and other networking activity.  Some of the exercises should be continued over to your semester break when you can focus on some of the personal relationship development skills. 

The lesson on mentorship is designed to help you  understand the value of mentorship  and to assist as you look for a mentor for this school year and in future years as your career progresses.

 

The Outcomes:

  • You will begin to develop your personal and professional portfolios.
  • You will gain more confidence in your career skills.
  • You will conduct exercises which will help you build relationships and expand your network. 
  • You will learn how to seek out mentors who will help you succeed here at Hamline and as you transition to a career
