Session 3: Sharing Experience & Building Camaraderie Copy

Sharing experiences.

An important part of a successful transition is to be transparent with others about your experience during your time of service. Your story matters. Take time together to share your experiences and gain comfortability sharing what you are proud of from your service and what you have learned from that time (i.e. leadership skills, career achievements, your military career path, etc.).

Building camaraderie outside of the military.

Finding and building strong relationships outside of the military is one of the biggest challenges transitioning members face. This session is dedicated to helping the mentee connect with more people and to guide them through effective ways to meet people and find the camaraderie they had while inside the military. This isn’t just a mentorship program, your mentor wants to help you find a sense of belonging and get you connected to people again that share the same goals and interests.

Tasks:

  1. Before meeting with your mentor: Watch Nick Koumatlatos’ 7 stages of transition video and outline your ideal “tribe” to talk about with your mentor (military, medicine, crossfit)- Where do you see yourself?
